Rajan Ji Maharaj Was Born Into An Upper-Middle-Class Family. His Career Has Been Quite An Interesting Journey. In An Interview He Revealed That He Had A Passion For Singing Since Childhood. He Participated In Numerous Competitions During His School And College Years. After Completing His Studies He Worked For Several Years In His Family’s Iron Factory Which Manufactured Brake Shoes For The Indian Railways.

On December 26 2008 He Auditioned For A Reality Show In Lokandwala Mumbai. His Younger Brother Was Also With Him. Approximately 1000 Participants Attended The Auditions But Only 150 Were Selected In The First Round Including Rajan Tiwari. Only 36 Contestants Were Selected Out Of 150 In The Second Round And He Was Also Selected In That Round. However He Was Not Selected In The Third Round Which Left Him Deeply Disappointed. He Was Worried About What He Would Tell His Family He Is Very Sad For This Situation

Although He Was Always Drawn To Bhajans Kirtans Rajan Ji Maharaj Father Name Shri Shejo Ji Tiwari Rajan Ji Maharaj Never Imagined That He Would Follow God’s Path And Become A Storyteller. In A Podcast Interview When Asked “How Come You’re From Kolkata Yet Your Language Is So Sweet And Clear?” He Explained Himself:

“I Was Born Into A Brahmin Family. Although I Was Born In Kolkata My Real Home Is Mugher Village In The Siwan District Of Bihar. Bhojpuri Was Spoken In Our Home Since Childhood So That’s Where The Sweetness In My Language Comes From. My Father Was A Storyteller And Would Perform 18-20 Ram Kathas A Year. I Listened To His Stories From Childhood Which Developed An Interest In Listening To And Understanding Them.”

In 2003 He Met His Guru Pujya Shri Prem Bhushan Ji Maharaj During A Narration In Kolkata. Upon Hearing The Narration He Developed A Deep Interest In Devotion And Storytelling And Accepted Him As His Guru. After This He Started Living With Him Kept Listening To His Satsang And Kept Learning Every Teaching Related To The Bhagwat Path.

After Receiving Initiation And Guidance From His Guru Rajan Ji Maharaj Performed Rajan Ji Maharaj First Katha Shree Ram Katha In Howrah Kolkata In 2011. This First Story Was Very Popular And From There His Recognition Began To Grow Rapidly.

After This He Performed In Several Major Shows And People Loved His Narrations. Many Of His Bhajans Also Went Viral On Social Media. His Instagram Audio Hymns In Particular Remained Trending Until 2025 With Bhajans Like: 

“Mangal Bhavan Amangal Hari”

“Aaj Mithila Nagariya Nihal Sakhiya” 

Gradually Maharaj Ji’s Recognition Reached International Levels And He Conducted Ram Katha And Devotional Programs Abroad. It Can Be Said That He Promoted The Name Of Lord Shri Ram Not Only In India But Also Abroad. His Storytelling Style Is Captivating And Powerful. Each Story Offers Inspiring Lessons For Today’s Youth What To Do What To Be Wary Of And The Importance Of Devotion In Life.
